It’s important to repot your plants every so often to ensure they continue to get all the nutrients they need. But we know it isn't everyone’s idea of fun! So let us take care of it for you.

Just bring your plants along to our store in Brighton and we will carefully bed them in a new pot of your choice. We always have various sizes of plastic nursery pots which are free to our customers, as well as a range of beautiful ceramic, concrete and terracotta pots for sale. We always use high quality compost, Shell on Earth drainage and organic Magic Manure fertiliser.

FAQs

Do you sell compost so I can just do it myself?
We sell houseplant potting soil, cacti and succulent mix, and orchid soil if you’d rather repot your plants yourself. These are available to buy in our shop and on our online store. We also sell bags of Shell on Earth, Magic Manure fertiliser and moss poles so you have everything you need to make your plants happy! Visit our Plant Accessories collection.

Can I bring a pot that I've bought somewhere else?!
Of course! If you already have a pot you’d like us to use, just bring it along with you.

We advise that it's best to use a pot with drainage holes (such as a plastic growers pot) and then put this into an attractive outer container if you wish. This helps to avoid overwatering your plant. It's also best if your new pot is clean to avoid the spread of fungus or bacteria, and ideally two sizes bigger than the current pot.

When is the best time to repot my plant?
We don't advise repotting your plant unless it needs it. A few signs to look out for include:

  • Roots are coming out of the drainage holes or your plant is pot bound. Please note, however, that some plants like to be pot bound!
  • The soil is drying out more quickly and you're finding that you need to water your plant more frequently
  • Your houseplant isn't growing, or has become wobbly or unstable
  • The growing medium has broken down

The best time of year to repot your plant is the Spring. This is because the new growth at this time of year works in both directions and the roots will quickly grow into the new space and establish faster.

However, it is true that many houseplants won't mind being repotted at other times of the year - as long as you avoid overwatering and keep exposure to the cold to a minimum.

How much does it cost?
The price we charge for this service depends on the size of plant and pot. For example, if the new pot is:
11cm and smaller £3
13cm - 17cm £5
17cm - 20cm £7
20cm - 25cm £10

These prices include the soil, drainage and fertilizer and a little TLC. The cost of a decorative pot/moss pole is additional. We will always discuss the cost with you before we do anything!
