The Calathea Rufibarba or furry feather as it is known due to the tiny hairs that cover its leaves giving the plant a distinctive velvety feel. The striking elongated shape of the leaves and the intense colour of the plant add a tropical indoor flair to all living spaces. The dramatic foliage is complimented by the rustic cement pot it is planted into.
These plants enjoy a bright spot but not direct sun as too much sun will burn the leaves. This plant can grows well in partial shade. The Rufibarba doesnt like draughts as this can cause the leaves to curl. Allow the top two inches of the soil to dry out slightly between each watering. Water from underneath placing plant in a dish or bowl of water.
